Patron Saint of Love, Loyalty, and Friendships

St. John the Apostle was considered to be the youngest of the 12 Apostles. John, along with Peter and James, was part of the triumvirate of Apostles present at many key events, including the Transfiguration and the Agony in the Garden. The “disciple whom Jesus loved” referenced in the Gospel of John is frequently believed to be John. John the Apostle was made the guardian of Mary while standing at the foot of the Cross. He is a patron saint of love, loyalty, friendships, and authors, and is often depicted with an eagle. “God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.” -1 John 4:16
