St. Mary Magdalene

Patron Saint of Converts

Mary Magdalene is one of the most mentioned woman in the Gospels, and she is mentioned by name more than many of the apostles. Many details and stories of her life can be found in the Gospels. In all four Gospels, she is a witness to the Crucifixion, the empty tomb, and Jesus鈥 Resurrection. For her role as a witness to the empty tomb and the Resurrection, Pope Francis referred to Mary Magdalene as the 鈥淎postle of the apostles鈥 in 2016. While some legends associate Mary Magdalene with the sinful woman who anoints Jesus鈥 feet in Luke 7, many saints have separated these Biblical figures, and Pope Paul VI officially removed this association.
