Patron Saint of Blindness and those with Eye Disorders

According to tradition, St. Lucy was born into a wealthy Sicilian family. At a young age, she made a vow of virginity and refused to marry. This angered a potential suitor, who then accused her of being a Christian. After guards made several attempts on her life, she was killed by the sword in modern-day Sicily in 304. The young martyr was tortured by eye gouging prior to her death. She is the patron saint of the blind and those with eye disorders.
